As golf is a self-regulating game, all golfers should have a good understanding of the fundamental rules.  Alternatively, find below a list of Common Rules & Penalties:-

Paths & Drains (a) then (b) or play it NO
Unplayable ball (d) or (c) or (e) 1 SHOT
Water Hazard (Yellow Stakes) (d) or (ef) or (g) 1 SHOT
Hit wrong ball (d) then cancel shots with wrong ball 2 SHOT

RELIEF – LEGEND

  1. Nearest point of relief not nearer the hole
  2. Within 1 Club length not nearer the hole
  3. Within 2 Club lengths not nearer the hole
  4. Go back and play from original spot, where last hit the ball
  5. Go back as far as you like, keeping the flag and entry point in a straight line
  6. Where ball last crossed hazard
  7. Play ball as lies without penalty but do not ground your club

Note: When dropping ball as per rules above; re-drop ball if it rolls more than 2 club lengths from where ball first touched the ground. After that place the ball at the position as close to where the ball first touched the ground.
